As one year closes and another dawns, America stands at a consequential crossroads. Ours is a nation that has known despair before—moments when injustice felt immovable, when power was hoarded, and when hope seemed rationed. Yet history testifies that deliverance comes when a people refuse to surrender their moral imagination and when leaders are willing to speak truth to power.
This is such a moment.
The ancient story of liberation reminds us that when a people were crushed beneath tyranny, God sent a prophet. Moses stood before Pharaoh and declared, “Let My people go.” That was not merely a spiritual utterance; it was a political confrontation, a moral indictment, and a demand for structural change. As it was then, so it is now.

America has endured a modern-day Pharaoh—embodied in Donald Trump, the MAGA movement, and billionaire oligarchs who have sought to bend our Democracy to serve private power rather than the public good. Their agenda has not been accidental. It has been systematic: undermine the Rule of Law, hollow out democratic institutions, weaponize fear, and enact what I have consistently called policy murder—the slow suffocation of healthcare, wages, environmental protections, voting rights, and human dignity. Yet the people resisted.
I was privileged to stand shoulder to shoulder with the resilient 99%—workers, veterans, teachers, caregivers, faith leaders, and small business owners—who refused to accept authoritarian normalcy. You organized. You voted. You protested. You prayed. You endured. And you reminded the world that America’s strength has never resided in oligarchy, but in the collective courage of ordinary people.
A Prophetic Vision Grounded in Policy
My calling—as a scholar, public servant, and candidate for Congress—is to serve as a moral, prophetic, political, and policymaking voice for the citizens of North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District. Prophecy without policy is empty rhetoric; policy without moral vision is technocracy. We must have both.
Our campaign advances a comprehensive agenda designed to restore normalcy, democratic stability, and economic dignity:
Economic Justice for Working Families
We will abolish punitive property and vehicle taxes that punish homeownership and mobility. We will index wages to inflation, protect non-taxable overtime and tips, and enact fair taxation that asks billionaires and monopolies to pay their lawful share. Work must once again be rewarded with security.
Healthcare as a Human Right
We will defend and expand affordable healthcare, protect rural hospitals, and reject legislative cruelty that treats illness as a market opportunity. A society is judged by how it cares for the sick, the elderly, and the vulnerable.
Voting Rights and Democratic Integrity
We will safeguard the franchise, end partisan election interference, and restore faith in democratic institutions. Democracy survives only when every voice is protected and every vote counts.
Environmental Justice and Community Protection
We will confront environmental racism, protect clean air and water, and invest in resilient infrastructure—because no community should be sacrificed for corporate profit.
Veterans, Education, and Consumer Protection
We will honor veterans with comprehensive benefits, invest in public education and workforce development, and enforce strong consumer protections against predatory practices.
This is not ideology. It is moral governance.
The Necessary Contrast
The choice before NC-9 is clear. The MAGA vision—advanced locally by Richard Hudson—has consistently aligned with deregulation without responsibility, tax schemes favoring the wealthy, and legislative attacks on healthcare, labor, and democracy itself. That path leads to instability, inequality, and democratic erosion.
Our path leads elsewhere: toward a restored Republic, a renewed middle class, and a politics anchored in compassion, competence, and constitutional fidelity.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. reminded us that “the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” It bends because people bend it—through faith, courage, and sustained civic action.
Scripture commands us plainly: “Let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream” (Amos 5:24). Justice must be built into budgets, statutes, and enforcement. Righteousness must be institutionalized.
A Call to the People of North Carolina
To the citizens of North Carolina’s 9th District: there is hope. Not a naïve hope, but a disciplined hope—one that believes God still intervenes in human history through principled leadership and courageous communities. We are not condemned to repeat the errors of authoritarianism, greed, and division. Deliverance is possible when we choose it.

As we move into this new year and toward 2026, I remain resolved to stay on the frontline of this struggle—debating with facts, legislating with precision, and leading with moral clarity. Together, we will reject modern Pharaohs, dismantle oligarchic control, and reclaim the promise of America for those who built it.

The Road Ahead: Building a Better Future
As we look to the future, it is essential to recognize the challenges that lie ahead. The fight for justice, equality, and democracy is ongoing. We must remain vigilant and united. Our strength lies in our ability to come together, to support one another, and to advocate for policies that uplift all members of our community.
Engaging the Community
Community engagement is vital. We must listen to the voices of our neighbors, understand their struggles, and work collaboratively to find solutions. Town halls, community forums, and grassroots organizing are essential tools in our fight for a better future. By fostering open dialogue, we can ensure that everyone feels heard and valued.
Education as Empowerment
Education is a powerful tool for change. We must invest in our schools and provide our children with the resources they need to succeed. This includes not only funding but also support for teachers and programs that promote critical thinking and civic engagement. An educated populace is the backbone of a thriving democracy.
Economic Opportunities for All
Creating economic opportunities is crucial. We must focus on job creation, fair wages, and support for small businesses. By investing in local economies, we can build a stronger, more resilient community. Everyone deserves a chance to succeed, and it is our responsibility to ensure that opportunities are accessible to all.
A Sustainable Future
Environmental sustainability is not just a buzzword; it is a necessity. We must take bold action to combat climate change and protect our natural resources. This includes transitioning to renewable energy sources, promoting sustainable agriculture, and investing in green infrastructure. Our planet's health is intertwined with our own, and we must prioritize it.
Conclusion: A Call to Action
As we embark on this journey together, I invite you to join me in this fight for justice and equality. Together, we can create a future that reflects our shared values and aspirations. Let us stand united in our commitment to building a better world for ourselves and future generations.
The work continues. The people endure. And with God’s guidance, justice will yet prevail.
