Why We Must Reject the Trump Doctrine and Elect (Common Sense) Leaders Like
Professor Dr. Lent C. Carr II for United States Congress
OPINION | Reclaiming America's Humanity: Why We Must Reject the Trump Doctrine and Elect Leaders Like Professor Dr. Lent C. Carr II
By Editorial Contributor, Professor Lent C. Carr, II, Ph.D — July 13, 2025
As we draw closer to the pivotal 2026 election cycle, the soul of our democracy finds itself cornered between two starkly divergent futures. One path—mired in the cruelty, chaos, and cruelty of Donald Trump’s authoritarian resurgence—threatens to further erode America’s constitutional promise. The other path, boldly championed by candidates like Professor Dr. Lent C. Carr II, is rooted in the restoration of dignity, democracy, and moral leadership—especially on the broken battlefield of immigration.

Let me be clear: the United States is witnessing one of the most shameful chapters in modern history. What began under Trump’s “zero-tolerance” immigration policy has metastasized into state-sanctioned terror against innocent families, asylum-seeking children, and the working poor. Donald Trump’s administration did not merely fail at immigration reform—it weaponized it.
❗ ICE Raids or Terrorism?
In 2025, reports continue to emerge of ICE agents conducting predawn raids, storming homes without proper warrants, tearing children from their parents in front of neighbors and school buses, and detaining nonviolent immigrants with no criminal records in private detention centers—many of which have been exposed for sexual abuse, medical neglect, and coerced labor. These atrocities aren’t isolated; they are the result of a deliberate policy architecture forged during the Trump presidency, under the pretext of fighting gang violence—namely MS-13.
Yet, the facts tell a darker story.

Instead of targeting criminal networks, ICE has disproportionately targeted Latino, African, Haitian, and Asian communities, many of whom have lived here for decades, working low-wage jobs that sustain America’s service, agricultural, and construction economies. Infants have been ripped from mothers. Pregnant women shackled. U.S. citizen children left to fend for themselves as both parents are deported. The Trump administration may have used the words "law and order"—but its policies reflect cruelty, racial profiling, and chaos.
And the damage isn't confined to our borders.
🌍 Foreign Policy Fiascos: Trump’s Betrayal of Allies and Global Leadership
Trump’s chaotic presidency left America diplomatically isolated, having withdrawn from the Paris Climate Accord, undermined NATO, and cozied up to authoritarians like Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un. He abandoned the Iran Nuclear Deal, triggering a dangerous arms race in the Middle East, and refused to stand with democratic protests in Hong Kong, Belarus, and Sudan. These actions left America weakened on the world stage and emboldened adversaries who saw, in Trump, a kindred spirit in corruption and impunity.
Economically, Trump launched a reckless trade war with China, decimating American farmers and manufacturing jobs, while his tax policies created historic deficits and handed trillions to the top 1%, leaving working-class Americans with breadcrumbs. And when COVID-19 struck, his denialism cost over a million American lives and cratered public trust in science and governance.
🚨 The MAGA GOP: A Party of Projection and Lawlessness
Republicans today, under Trump’s grip, have become the party of performative outrage and legislative sabotage. They scream about border security while blocking bipartisan immigration reform. They claim to support veterans while slashing VA funding. They weaponize the FBI and courts against their enemies while crying foul when held accountable themselves.
Richard Hudson, the incumbent representing North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District, is no exception. A loyal Trumpist, he has voted repeatedly to defund immigration services, block pathways to citizenship for DREAMers, and silently endorsed ICE brutality. He has refused to meet his constituents in public town halls, fearing the moral accountability he so richly deserves.
It’s no wonder that so many across the 9th District—and the nation—are rising up to say: Enough is enough.
✅ The Carr Doctrine: A Vision Rooted in Justice, Humanity, and Real Security
Professor Dr. Lent C. Carr II, candidate for U.S. Congress in North Carolina’s 9th District, represents a radical but necessary departure from this moral free fall.
A former civil rights leader, political prisoner, and now Chancellor at ECEI University, Carr understands firsthand the cost of injustice. His platform on immigration reform, rooted in both compassion and constitutional integrity, offers a robust alternative to the Trump-Hudson regime.
Among his bold proposals:
🛡️ Carr’s Humane Immigration Plan
Immediate end to family separation and indefinite detention; prioritize community-based alternatives
Establishment of an Independent Immigration Oversight Commission to investigate ICE misconduct and uphold human rights standards
Pathway to Citizenship for DACA recipients, TPS holders, and undocumented immigrants with no violent criminal history
Full Restoration of Asylum Protections, in accordance with international law, especially for victims of gender violence, persecution, and climate displacement
Increased legal representation for immigrants in detention, funded through a federal Civil Liberties Grant Program

💼 Carr’s Economic & Global Stability Doctrine
Rebuild diplomatic alliances and rejoin key international accords (Paris, WHO, Iran Deal)
Reverse Trump’s tax cuts for billionaires, and reinvest those funds into working-class economic recovery and small business stimulus
Launch the “Human Rights + Trade Pact” Initiative: tie U.S. trade deals to a partner country’s treatment of immigrants, refugees, and laborers
Expand support for immigrant-owned businesses and local entrepreneurship in historically neglected communities
🗳️ A Moral Call to Action
The future is not guaranteed—it is forged by those brave enough to fight for it. Lent C. Carr II is not just running to unseat Richard Hudson; he is running to rebuild the moral foundation of our nation.
Let us reject the xenophobic, lawless vision peddled by Trump and his enablers. Let us rise with candidates who believe Black, Brown, immigrant, LGBTQ+, disabled, working-class, and rural lives all matter.
Let us choose a future where the U.S. Congress no longer funds hate but champions humanity.
